Print out a petition and get it signed!

Print out a petition and have the people around you show their support for KTRU!

Please remember that a petition is a legal document. These simple steps will help every signature count:

  1. The printed portions need to be reasonably legible.
  2. They must also give their zip code and at least a phone number *or* email (in case the signatures need to be verified).
  3. Each person can only sign once. They can’t sign for someone else. It looks obvious and would disqualify both signatures.
  4. The empty space on the both sides of the petition must stay empty.
  5. Signature sheets will be numbered AFTER the pages are collected and reviewed.
  6. Please do not add any numbering, extra comments, etc.
  7. Please do not alter the layout so all pages of petition are the same.

Petitions must be completed by Thursday the 26th and handed to Austin W,
Vincent C, Miguel Q or Greg S.
You can contact Greg at 713-806-7455 or cliffordmcmurty@yahoo.com. We’ll have a mailing address shortly for those KTRU supporters outside of Houston. If someone signed the previous petition on colored paper or on-line, they can sign still this offical paper petition.

if you’re going to local shows this weekend, would be a good idea to take some along if you get the club owner’s approval

One of the volunteer programers, David John “Chickenskinmususic”, and I have been friends since junior high. while I can’t get ktru over the air
I can listen via the internet, way up here in far Northern Minnesota. I truly appreciate the programing designed by real people. It is truly shameful that the Admin of Rice has so little reguard for their own students and the general public that they would be willing to sell such a jewell of a Radio Station for a few sheckels of Silver. SHAME. Local Radio stations are too few these days. I am lucky to know of KTRU! Please keep it on the air.

I love KTRU and would spill guts for it. I do not have an Ipod or any crap like that & all I have in my big dumb van is KTRU. I can’t get to a computer to listen to shows. I own no computer. I have to Go to the library. The fact that KTRU is acessible to folks who do not own fancy technology is so beautiful and uncommercial. KUHF & Rice are wrong for taking away one of the only sanctuaries I have found here! so much of my nights were spent in my van listeinig to KTRU! It is simply a good entity to houston! it cannot become an internet only station! and 91.7 cannot be taken over by stagnant NPR!!!
the most important part of this though is that it has not happend yet

I may be 16, but I understand how vital KTRU is to my cummunity. I am a previous member of TWHS band and a religious listener of KTRU. It would break my heart and most all of my friends, if KTRU were to be taken of the air. I do not believe any other radio station even a viable option since I discovered KTRU.

  11. Free Press Houston » What to do about KTRU?

[…] Now that the rumored purchase has occurred and Rice’s KTRU studios will now be under the control of Clear Channel affiliated U of H there is little that we outraged listeners can do but show our solidarity. Luckily this Sunday, at 2:00 PM, there will be a peaceful demonstration, at Rice University, just for that purpose. The event is well-organized, has a noise permit, and the approval of Rice University. There will be water stations, police officers, and an EMT on site. To set the mood, there will be also be a series of speakers including a few of KTRU’s very own DJs. If you cannot attend Sunday’s demonstration you can also help by getting signatures of your concerned fellow Houstonians; these petitions can be printed off here. […]
